Dr. Peter Fenwick at the 4th British Congress of Medicine made the following statements related to the Aware Study:
1. Dr. Sam Parnia has renamed the phrase NDE in the cardiac ward to the more accurate ADE (actual death experience).
2.) Our Fear of Death is based in ignorance.
3.) There are situations where mind and brain do separate. Example- Cardiac arrest ADE's.
4.) Cardiac arrest ADE's occur only at the time the brain is non-functional. They do not occur during loss of consciousness, nor do they occur during the time a patient is coming back into consciousness.
5.) OBE reporting on their experiences during resuscitation are not guessing.
6.) The use of place cards has not really answered the questions that researhers wanted to know.
